Hummus Abu Yuvi

Business of the Month: Hummus Abu Yuvi

A Hummus Love Story In the City of Tsfat

The story of hummus Abu Yuvi is the epitome of a Tsfat love story. Yuval Cohen, a Jerusalem resident makes a trip with a friend to magical Tsfat, not knowing what to expect from the city, and starts to fall in love.

A few days later, he is all packed up and ready to move in. “ It was in the vibe, something made me feel at home.”  One  Friday afternoon, he was sitting with friends in a gorgeous two-story brass-decorated rustic house. People started to pop in see what is happening and in true-Tsfat style, a community was born. Somehow people of all walks of life, of all cultures and beliefs, mesh together in this city, like a beautiful tapestry. He started to cook up some chickpeas and this was the beginning of one of the most-loved restaurants in the city. Still, running out of his house, everything is cooked daily and the vibe continues to be a huge part of the magic of Abu Yuvi.

Hummus Aba Yuvi is a meeting of two worlds, his love for food and his love for people. The location, where the old city and the center meet, means that you also get to experience both.

On the menu, home-cooked food, fresh chopped tomato shakshuka, rice and kebabs, and more. But the star of the show, remains, the hummus, made fresh in-house and all the trimmings, from hummus topped with shakshuka to cauliflower shakshuka, to hummus with sabich, there is so much to choose from.

One of Israel’s best kept secrets, home cooking at its best!
