Redefining Protein, One Insect at a Time

Can you even imagine munching on insect protein-based products with your breakfast? What about a cricket shake before your workout?

Though eating products with insect protein may sound a bit extreme, they are slowly becoming a part of people’s diets worldwide. The reasons are endless. They are highly nutritious, packed in protein, vitamins, fibers, and full of minerals. They have no antibiotics, no hormones, and no pesticides. But, perhaps the most crucial aspect is that by switching to insect protein, you can have an impact on the environment. We’re talking, no greenhouse gas pollution, low water utilization, and almost zero waste. The term “ entomophagy” means eating insects for food, and it’s the next thing in foodtech that you have to know about.

Flying Spark, founded by Eran Gronich, an experienced entrepreneur, has won prizes worldwide for his protein products powered by insects. With two main products, insect oil, and a protein powder, companies or consumers can create meat replacements, seafood replacements, baked goods, milk alternatives, and food products bursting with protein, vitamins, and minerals while being low in fat and aiding with weight loss.

Gronich explains “We recently listed the company in the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE: FLYS), and became the first public insect protein producer. Now everyone can join our vision and take part in changing the world!”

Though consuming insect protein might spark a buggy debate, one thing is for sure, being impactful on the environment and making more conscious choices benefits everyone. Flying Spark is proof that it is all a matter of perspective, and the world is full of opportunities once you open your mind to them.
