DeKarina Chocolate

Business of the Month: DeKarina Chocolate

Chocolate Heaven in Snowy Kibbutz Ein Zivan, A Day Trip for Chocolate Lovers

One of Israel’s must-visit chocolate lover spots is DeKarina Chocolate, located in the dreamy Golan Heights. DeKarina is an inspiring factory, shop, and cafe known for its creativity in chocolates, incredible global-inspired chocolate combinations, and fine artisanal hand-made chocolate selections.

Though you can find their chocolates in just about every high-quality spot where they sell chocolates, nothing beats inhaling the aroma, the experience, and the connection to be found at the Ein Zivan location. The chocolate experience begins with an 8-minute movie about the history of DeKarina, followed by an educational tasting of five different types of chocolate and then a chocolate-making workshop. After that, each individual gets a chocolate-making kit; for children, a more simplified version, and for adults, a step-by-step process bringing them closer to chocolate mastery.

Karina and Gyora Chepelinski opened DeKarina in 2007, and it has become a hub for chocolate tasting ever since. Karina’s grandfather fled Europe during the First World War and arrived in Argentina, where he started creating sugar desserts. Then, after honing his craft, he pivoted to chocolate. This inspiration created this visiting center for chocolate lovers all over the country.  Karina’s passion is incorporating creativity and seasonal touches to the chocolate, all with a focus on the taste and aesthetics of it all.

De Karina has become a staple at many high-quality shops or locations across the country. The flagship “Hermon Mountains” is a dulce de leche cone with a snowy white chocolate cap. This chocolate has snow during all seasons. De Karina is known for their creative and seasonal takes on chocolates; there are no limits, whether it be a za'atar and olive version, a tahini lemon, or a local boutique winery-inspired chocolate.

Discover milkshakes, brownies, waffles towering with chocolates, macarons, and more in the chocolate cafe. If it has chocolate, you will find it. Lunch options such as pizza are available, but nothing beats an over-the-top hot chocolate or the Viennese coffee with chocolate bits and pralines.
